Tumbler top finished

I worked on the I Spy Tumbler quilt today.
I decided to try to use up some of the
Moda Marbles that I had on hand.
Blue won out as the border color with red as the
accent. However, when I got to the last couple of
cuts I had to make I discovered I had to get more fabric.
So I went over to the quilt store for a quick visit.
While I was there I found a print I decided I want to use on
the back. I have the back washed and stitched together, just have to
lay it out and pin.

This is a lousy picture but this is the finished top.

I hope to get a picture of the backing uploaded soon.

Nine patch and tumblers

I finished hand quilting the yellow baby
quilt the other day. I drew a daisy design with a swirling
design connecting each daisy. If you click on the
picture you might be able to see the quilting.
I've added it to the quilt rack with all my baby quilts on it.
I think I now have 6-7 quilts on there. It is so much fun
to see the number of quilts on the rack grow! They are
so much fun to make, I don't know if I can give
any of these away.

I spent some time working on my I Spy tumbler
quilt today. I had decided I needed two more
rows, which meant I needed about 18 more prints to
acquire. Finally, I realized I had enough to use and
sewed them to the quilt top. Now I just have to cut the
sides and add a black border. Of course, this may change.
I may just use some of the red I have as a border then add black.
It will depend on how I feel when I pick this quilt up again to
finish it. I can never make up my mind. LOL!

One of the reasons I love scrap quilts is because of the memories
that I have with the different pieces. The mice fabric
was bought when my sister and mom and I met for
a weekend to shop at Fabric Shack near Dayton a few
years ago. We had a great girls weekend.
The chickens were from years ago when I was interested
in chicken fabrics, and I think the cookie fabric was from the
swaps I did around 2000.

Doll quilt 2

This is the second of the most recent doll quilts
made from leftover 2 inch squares.

I did find the box that I used to save my 2 inch squares,

I'm sure I can find something to do with these or
maybe cut some more squares! LOL!

Oh, what to do on a day off!

Yesterday our microwave decided it was ready to go. It
croaked just as Joe was ready to warm up his dinner.
Of course, always when you really need it!
So today I went to a couple of stores to look for a new microwave.

I also stopped off at the Goodwill to donate some old clothes and to see
what they had to offer. I don't understand how some
bloggers can find all the goodies they find. My Goodwill
rarely has any goodies to offer. I'm so jealous!
I did see a couch that looked
promising but as I walked toward it I realized why it was still in the
store. I do know the odor of a cat accident! I don't understand
why they had it in the store. To me it smelled horrific!

When I got home I found a box of fabric in the mail,
which always makes my day!
I am planning on making a couple of new baby quilts
for a couple of friends who I just found out are expecting.
I don't have any pictures to share but I will tell you that I
got some fat quarters of the Happy Campers fabric group by
Moda. Love the colors and the prints.

I did stitch together some 2 in squares that I had left-over from the
baby quilts I made a few years ago.
I do need to get an updated photo of this one, as it is
finished and on the quilt rack.

I guess I had a LOT of 2 inch squares! LOL!

I made this  doll quilt with part of the squares,
and I started another one with the last of the squares.
At least I think it is the last of the 2 in squares! LOL!!!

The border on this one is a very dark navy. I'm not quite
sure how I will be quilting it. Hand or machine? I really only can
do straight quilting by machine. If I do hand quilting I was thinking
of doing a Baptist fan or something like that. Any ideas?
I'll take some photos tomorrow of the second doll quilt I
put together and maybe some pictures of the fabric I received today.

Spring!

I guess I'm not a good blogger but really not much has been going on here.
Work and home is about all I've done lately.

I've been doing a little down in the quilting room,
but not too much to show for it. I do have quite a mess though.

I've been starting to go through some of my fabric and cutting
squares, dresden plates, and tumblers charms from them. I even
have a tiny pile of fabric I'm going to give to Goodwill, and believe
me it's hard for me to give up on a piece of fabric!

I've been collecting more ideas to use for future projects and
wish I had more time to work on them.
I'm hand quilting a baby quilt top that I finished
awhile ago and am almost done with that. I traced a daisy pattern
with swirls connecting them to each other for the
quilting design. I just love this design and it is working up really fast.

I found out I need to make baby quilts for two friends of mine who just
discovered they will be new parents. I want to do something different than
what I normally do for my baby quilts.

I've also been watching a lot of movies on
Netflix while I've been downstairs in my sewing room.
I've enjoyed Jane Eyre, the Masterpiece Theatre 2006 version.
Love Francesca Annis as Jane and Toby Stephens as Rochester.
I've watched this version several times and will probably watch
it again.
I also have gone through the Sherlock Holmes with Jeremy Brett series and
am now just finishing up the mystery series, Campion. Wish there were more.

Next I'm starting the Law and Order: Criminal Intent series from the beginning!
Love Vincent D'Onofrio.

Till next time!
